The Adventures of SMURPHY the Wonder Dog

The Giving Poem

SMURPHY and his Toys

I want this, and I want that, I want the baseball
and I want the bat.

I want the teddy bear, I want the doll,
I want the toy box, I want it all!

I wanted everything and I got it all,
my pile is tall, it is just like a wall.

I gathered up everything, it was all just for me
but then past the pile, I couldn't see.

My friends on the other side sat calling my name, but I couldn't hear them
over the sounds of my game.

So I played and I played until I got really bored;
but I couldn't escape, my wall had no door!

So I realize that having everything that I want, wouldn't make me happy, it was all just a front.
So one by one I gave away all my toys, to children without toys, many girls and many boys.
And they all were real happy so they asked me to play,
and I made many new friends - that giving day,
and now I am happy because my life now is filling, thanks to my friends, and all of my giving!
